Christian Slater and Bryan Adams that means you, but it's rad nevertheless, if only for the one liners and intense combat that ensues throughout the film. Overall the plot, characters and beautiful sceneries of England are amazing and it nevers ceases to amaze me at where the Robin Hood legend will be taken next.Steve (10 out of 10 )One of the greatest movies ever made

The rear speakers are kept incredibly busy as well: the forest is regularly transformed into a character all its own, pulse-pounding carriage chases are packed with aggressive activity, and ambience is immersive. While the track reveals the film's age in almost every scene, casual listeners will probably find its lossless shortcomings are fairly easy to overlook

By Kyle Tolle on June 15, 2003Format: DVD Verified Purchase Over the years, it seems that the Robin Hood saga has been a favorite of sorts for film makers to re-invent, manipulate, and showcase again and again. There were three (count 'em, three) Robin Hood movies being produced at the same time, and the one to come out finished first would be the one released in theatres

After Robin barely survives a watery skirmish with Little John, the two become allies and Robin joins forces with Little John's band of robber thieves to overcome the evils of the dastardly Nottingham sheriff. Costner is joined in his efforts against the murdering Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman) by Morgan Freeman who plays a philosophizing Moor, and by Nick Brimble, who plays Little John (anything but little)

Details Barking up the wrong tree PR Having bonded over anachronistic swearing, Robin and his band build a sort of Ewok village in a bosky glade, complete with rope ladders, engineered lifts, mood lighting, canopy-level walkways, and a mosque for Azeem. A load of big, hairy, dirty, woady savages turn up, looking like they've just arrived from the second century, and setting bits of themselves on fire for kicks

Card-Carrying Villain: The Sheriff of Nottingham embodies pretty much any and all indicators of cartoonish supervillainy, up to and including Satan worship. Also counts as a Chekhov's Gag as various characters pause to look at the scar that someone added to the statue after Robin and the Sheriff's first fight

There's just something about the plights of the oppressed class and the simple heroics of the man who steps forward to fight for honor and better lives for the dismal. No, it isn't original, but it's just got everything you'd ever want from a film. The story of Robin Hood has been done so many times, and (unlike most of his other roles) Kevin Costner is not only believable, but actually quite good this time (well, except for the accent, but nobody's perfect).Alan Rickman is just flawlessly devious as the Sheriff of Nottingham
