Verizon tried to sell me a new modem for 80 dollars and I ended up getting this router for almost half the price and works better then what Verizon provides. The issue that you are seeing can definitley be caused by these updates alone and may be good to see if other Etherent connected deivces go down as well

Even on the older devices that only support the wireless g standard the connection is very fast.I appreciate that there are lot of wireless routers out there that portray themselves as being fast, but by far the most important thing when acquiring a router is to make sure that it has a good solid stable connection
