The course unfolds twice around the northern half of Fiesta Island, and then brings runners south along its opposite end before heading back across the land bridge and over to the paved trail just before Mission Bay Drive
Suja Rock 'n' Roll Marathon - Race Details
It's the 'original' and best Rock'n'Roll marathon in America's Finest City! Decent but not as fun as I was expecting (about: 2013) Course: 2 Organization: 4 Fans: 3 m. I was surprised that there was so many hills and gradual inclines my quadriceps were tight and the course was not pleasing to the eyes, the crowds were great but after mile 13 everything changed, running through the park no water stations present and the water bubblers did not work
There were ample refreshments at the end, staff handing out chocolate milk to the late arrivals (like me), and medical support with a well-staffed facility at the end with attentive personnel along the way in. The comments on last year's run were discouraging, but I found plenty of water, Gatorade, GU, and cheer along the way all the way through the last water station (about mile 25)
The Series originated in 1998 in San Diego, CA and now visits more than 30 cities annually, including Las Vegas, Chicago, Nashville, Washington DC, Madrid and Mexico City. Find a Race Music Live bands, cheer teams and high-energy volunteer groups line the streets to power your block party from the start to the finish line
Before runners reach the mile 2 marker, the full marathoners split off from those running the half, and continue on a course that will take them along the shoreline of Mission Bay near SeaWorld. Here, several stretches of the race will bring runners close to the cliffs that look over into Mission Valley below, before heading back to Adams Avenue
