Why couldn't they manage to continue with stuff like this?? It would have been better than being all bitter and disappearing, then releasing, well, crap. The best song - "When I Grow Up (to be a Man)" is one of the songs that is closest to Pet Sounds, with great harmonies and magnificent orchestration (in particular the harpsichord)

It's all relative of course, and the band's basic sound is still there, as are the complex structures, and talented instrumental work.Tracks like "Piano lessons" and "This is no rehearsal" are however far more straight forward and radio friendly than the band's previous works. "A Smart Kid" is sung by a kid that is either a survivor of an apocalypse, though I think it is more in his imagination, that he is talking to an alien race pleading for them to "take him in"

Hotel Dusk, having a heavy emphasis on dialogue to move the story along, has a mountain of ear-worms to help keep you interested: Namely Hangover Blues, Rainy Night and Monochrome; the latter of which will get stuck in your head. Theme Of Bad Boy is a mix of a whopping 9 songs - first Porkies Pokies, then Master Porkys theme, then Mischievous Blues, after that comes More Audacious March, quickly followed by Etude For Ghosts, then comes Battle with Mecha Drago, followed by (would someone help me here), predictably, Piggy Guys comes afterwards, and Intense Guys tops the whole song off
