I -know- the desktop's drive is not bad, as i recently installed it last week, when the original drive was bad, so i could reinstall Win7 RC x32 on my desktop. Alright, i have got my laptop, HP Pavilion Dv6700, upgraded to Windows 7 Professional x64, and i ran it previously on both beta, and RC verisions of Win7 without any difficulties
The following is from a Microsoft Kb but they don't mention deleting the driver in device manager after clearing out he filters, you will want to do that afterwords and then reboot the pc
If you are receiving this Code 39 error and your CD or DVD drive is missing and has a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager, I hope this information is useful. I uninstalled the drive from Device Manager, rebooted the computer, and the problem remained, so obviously it appeared to be a registry issue that I would have to solve

I have been into the device manager and uninstalled them both and re-booted the p.c but when i go back they are still not there? When re entering device manager the cd roms show a triangle with a yellow exclamation mark and its telling me that the drivers are installed okay but windows cannot detect any devices???? I went into Device Manager, and the error is: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. TBH, a lot of answers on here are excellent from poeple I have helped and the responses, people who want help, give great information about their problems that helps people with a bit more knowledge help others
I was watching a movie and at points it would freeze and I would have to close my media player and reopen and skip about a minute of the movie as it would always freeze at the same points. deleting lower filters etc, it may also be a driver issue, do you know of an appropriate driver for my Disk Drive spec? I have exhausted many approaches to dealing with this problem, can you please help it would be much appreciated and thanks for you're time
if it does show there but still dosen't show in windows check to make sure there isn't a conflict of jumper settings on all items hooked on that chain.

There is something (I think) in the software whether it's Microsoft interminable and ubiquitous updates related; I don't know but I suspect it's something they've done. Came back with info that some files corrupted could not be repaired?What the heck do I do now?Sometimes the SD will show up in device driver, sometimes it won't
