WD Red disable TLER? - WD Community
Click the Kudos star to say thank you for helpful posts and be sure to come back and 'Accept as Solution' under options for the post that solved your issue. However since the Red drives have TLER enabled and that is not ideal for a single storage drive i was wondering if the feature can be disabled using western digitals tools
However lack of a verbose display, issues with the smart phone app, sluggish wifi, and silly windows files system checks really knocked the drive down a good bit. It does not appear to work with Windows XP at all, at least in my testing I could not get it to function, which is a bit of a downer if you use it like I wanted to use it
Can't access Western Digital Tv Live Hub - NETGEAR Forums
If I go back to the wireless connection, I can do what I want, but it transfers files at about 1 Mb per second, and stops after about 100 MBs have been transferred, and you have to start the transfer all over again from the beginning, so there's no way I'm going to transfer 60 GBs. It's showing up as a streaming device, and I can stream from the WD to the computer, but can't map the WD so that I can transfer files back and forth, which is what I need to do
WD TV HD Media Player Review
Reply Link Tom November 15, 2011, 4:07 am Hey, have been using my media player with a 1TB hard drive, which became quite full so I purchased a 2.5TB hard drive. Is there something I can do to get it to play? Overall we were very impressed by the new software interface, making the WD TV Live Hub still one of the easiest to use and nicest looking media players on the market. The only complaint we had with power consumption, which was also a problem with the first generation model, is that there is no off switch or true power-off state
So in the end, I have ended up actually selling both my Apple TV 3 and WD TV Live and I now in the process of setting up an old laptop with Linux (Ubuntu or Mint) and puting XBMC on it. Dave L from Toronto, ON Jan 07, 2014 4.0 Pretty good, some network issues I bought this unit because it was one of the few that are able to stream video files directly over a network share without using a DLNA server

WD TV Live Hub (1TB) review - CNET
Editors' note: As of an August 2, 2011 firmware update , the WD TV Live Hub reviewed here can now also access Hulu Plus (subscription required) and Shoutcast Internet radio (free). Who is that? Well, it's someone who has a lot of multimedia content stored on his or her computer and wants to throw it all onto one box and be able to connect it to a TV and play files directly from that box
If only my home network supported Gigabit throughput then I could test the Gig Ethernet adaptor on the device fully. The product can double up as network storage with DNLA and ITunes server that runs in the background even when the product is turned off. You can access the share whether you are using it or not and handles playing content while streaming to another device perfectly.I have had this just under a week now however it has handled every file format I have thrown at this so far
