Look for the ANT+ symbol (above) and Bluetooth Smart symbol (below) on both the heart-rate strap and your watch, cycling computer or smartphoneBoth ANT+ and BT Smart straps are not brand-specific, and will pair with any watch, cycling computer or smartphone that uses the same signal. (Again, note that Polar computers are not ANT+ compatible.) From there, once you have a battery in the strap and the strap is around your chest, set your computer to search for a heart-rate monitor

HR-based target zones with visual and audible alarm- You can define your target zones for a training session based on heart rate to help define the right intensity. Also would be good to be able to switch from watch mode to heart rate mode - which might be possible but it doesn't come with a very inclusive manual - you must go to the internet - UGH

While there may be hiccups in getting certain third-party apps to communicate with Blue HR, the completeness of Wahoo Fitness and its free price point help mitigate this. Wahoo Fitness TICKR Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap - REI.com
The strap that comes with the TICKR is a little bulkier than the Garmin soft strap, but the cool thing is that the TICKR can snap onto the Garmin strap and works great, so save the Garmin strap if your HR monitor dies. The blue indicator LED on the TICKR shows when it is transmitting to an ANT+ or Bluetooth device (it supports both interfaces!) and the red LED shows when it has detected a heart beat signal

The product description leads me to believe it only is designed to work while riding a spin bike indoors (less random motion I guess). On-bike testing I tested the TICKR X on a handful of road rides (and runs, despite my better judgment) and the first impressions were based on the initial set-up and usability, as well as function during the workout
