There are specific reasons for this in our environment and other security precautions in place of it.It should be kept on to prevent 0 day attacks among others. Only thing about adding to the domain and removing is that you are going to have a lot of domain specific stuff leftover like domain profiles you might have logged into the server with

In some cases related to accessing shares or the filesystem it doesn't to display the prompt when it seems like it should with an application that can elevate privileges. Your options are basically the following: Turning off UAC is one way to work around this, however it's not very smart if this really is a production server

BitLocker - Turn On or Off for OS Drive in Windows 8

  http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/21271-bitlocker-turn-off-os-drive-windows-8-a.html
I deleted my system partition and recovery partition, combined all that and made one big partition, to manage my HDD space before I updated my Win 7 to Win 8. My HDD is almost full! My question is if I encrypt the entire HDD using BitLocker, meaning encrypt my one and only drive which would mean encrypting my entire HDD, how would my laptop's performance will be affected? BitLocker asks for the password in very beginning, at boot, before OS is loaded right? Once I enter my password for BitLocker and OS is loaded and I am on my desktop using it normally, how will BitLocker get in my face? Like locking the drive after certain amount of idle time or something? Thank You for your helpful tips

Disable User Account Control (UAC) the Easy Way on Win 7, 8, or 10

  http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-user-account-control-uac-the-easy-way-on-windows-vista/
Instead of UAC as it is, it should have worked as an improved local policy system, with nicely organised and simply named options for configuration, similar to AD but less obtuse to use. Even in legitimate cases for running a program as an administrator, many found it easier to use an administrator account on their desktop instead of teaching users how to use RunAs (which would prompt for username and password)

I know 2008 R2 ships with IE8 installed already, but if your GPOs were created on older versions of Server you might still be using an outdated template
