Microsoft Surface Pro 3 vs. 2014 MacBook Air (11-in)
Could it be that Apple trained you into thinking that anything bigger than 10" in a tablet is too big? Where do you think you are getting your standards from (hence, bias). What is versatility for some is compromise for others, and this article provides a good amount of information to help make that assessment for ones own needs
Review Apple MacBook Air 11 inch Mid 2013 1.7 GHz 256 GB Subnotebook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews
A run of 3DMark 2006 immediately after the stress test was identical to a cold start, a thermally caused throttling is therefore rather unlikely in more realistic scenarios. But some agonizing questions remain: i5 CPU or the more powerful i7 chip? 128 GB SSD or even the 256 GB drive? Our review should give you some assistance
As a T100 owner myself, it's good enough CPU for a lot of tasks (even Android development if I use a real device and not the emulator), and worth making a sacrifice for the benefits in portability and battery life. Felix As soon as there is an (inofficial) Dual-Boot Version with Win8.1 - I WILL BUY IT!! n You know you've made a shitty product, when even the Google fanboys on this site cant fully get behind it
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 vs MacBook Air: Which is best?
This only tells a limited story, though. The Surface Pro 3 has the faster processor, clocking in at 1.9GHz and the ability to Turbo Boost a single core to up to 2.9GHz. The Surface Pro 3 is an interesting and very accomplished alternative, but you must really need its alternative strengths to tolerate its other weaknesses

There is, however, one very important difference in the new models, and one that's especially noteworthy if you spend a lot of time on the road and away from your power adapter. The backlit keyboard and trackpad are the same as on the previous models, and the trackpad especially remains the standard by which all others are judged
Surface Pro 3 vs MacBook Air comparison review - Review - PC Advisor
"The screen is bright and lively, displaying images at a resolution of 2160x1440 pixels - that seems an odd shift away from the regular 2560x1440 pixel screens adopted for laptops and monitors," said Shah. Since PCMark 7 also measures the speed of storage as part of the test suite, this better-for-less result could also be attributed to the upgrade in flash memory
freedom from power outlets: How long can each MacBook Air last without charging? Screen size isn't the only fundamental difference between the 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air. As noted above you really can't tell the difference in weight with day to day use however they keyboard does feel much better on the RMBP, on the Air the keys were very shallow
MacBook Pro vs MacBook Air: Which should you buy?
This is not good news for camera enthusiasts. In the past, the MacBook Air laptops have also lost out on a few wireless connectivity standards, but now they are on-par with the MacBook Pros. One again, here are those specs:13.3 inch: 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, IPS LCD15.4 inch: 2,880 x 1,800 pixels, IPS LCDAll of the issues with the Air twins are solved in the Pros
MacBook Air (2013) review - Review - Macworld UK
Hyper-Threading is supported on the i5 processors, allowing multi-threaded applications to address four virtual processing cores on these dual core systems. Macworld Lab tests found the older system was faster in eight of the 15 tests, including our iMovie export, which was 34 percent faster on the older 13-inch
Turbo boost is an automatic thing - if the CPU temp is below a certain threshold, the machine will up-clock if it is busy (to try and get the work done faster if it is a temporary spike in load) until the temp gets hot and then automatically clock back down to normal
Apple just announced its updated 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pros -- not to mention a new 15-inch model with a brilliant Retina display, and these new machines boast some pretty impressive upgrades. There's no shortage of spec changes to keep track of, so check out our comparison charts below to see what the new models bring to the table (hint: highlights include USB 3.0, Ivy Bridge and a thinner design for the new Retina model)
The difference between Retina display and standard display is profound - Retina displays show more detail in photographs and make it easier to read text at smaller point sizes. Also, one thing missing when reading, anywhere, about the new MacBook or the new Force Track Pad, or updates to current models is the fact that you can get a new MacBook Pro 13" retina today with the new Force Track Pad, that is one of the updates to it
We dug into the specs to analyze the pros and cons for each model, and came away finding that the 13" MacBook Pro still has a lot to offer for the money. Originally introduced in 2008 as the laptop that fit in a standard manila envelope, the Air has given rise to a new class of ultraportable laptops known as "Ultrabooks." The MacBook Air's defining feature is its trade-off between available ports and expandability and ultimate portability
MacBook Air vs MacBook Pro: 13-inch Apple laptop comparison review - Review - Macworld UK
If you will be using the MacBook on the move then both the weight of the MacBook Air, and it's superb battery life are likely to swing it in your favour - unless our tests are correct and the MacBook Pro really offers the astounding 17 hours we found in our original tests! 13in MacBook Pro v MacBook Air: specs and build-to-order options There are three 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro options available and two 13-inch MacBook Air options. The MacBook Pro with Retina display and the 13in MacBook Air both offers a 16:10 ratio rather than the 16:9 screens that most other laptops use, including the MacBook Air
Apple MacBook Air (13-inch review - CNET
However, just as the iPhone started iconic and gradually found itself surrounded by a sea of similar competitors, the MacBook Air now sits among ultrabooks, no longer as much of a stand-out it was a year ago. The Bottom Line This year's MacBook Air opts for gradual improvements rather than anything revolutionary, but lowered prices continue to make it the go-to mainstream recommendation for any MacBook owner-to-be
Apple MacBook Air (2012) vs. ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A
After a consumer makes that decision, a decision that could have taken place years ago when first entering the computer market, THEN they look at other hardware related features (generally). However, we were less than thrilled with the incessant pop-ups for McAfee Internet Security and ASUS Webstorage, which provides 2GB of free space for one year
The screen is outdated and of low-res, hence the consumption is much lower than with any other Ultrabook with a hi-res screen, hence the battery-life is much longer and the price is much lower. Some offer great speakers (like the Zenbooks or the XPSes), some not that much, and at the same time, some pack some mediocre cameras, while some of the hybrids pack even rear-facing main shooters
MacBook Air review (13-inch, mid 2012)
Speaking of which, for those of you who were disappointed when Tim Cook failed to announce a 15-inch Air, the bigger-screened Series 9, just 0.58 inches thick, is still, in some ways, the closet thing you've got. And what of the Ultrabooks we haven't tested yet? The ones that were on display at Computex earlier this month? Well, this might be as good as time as any to give some serious thought to Windows -- specifically, whether you want to stick around for Win8, and whether you'd prefer using the new OS on a touchscreen

The chassis in these are after all used as a heatsink, and the main thing stopping the processor from using higher clocks for longer periods of time is heat. Reply Robert says: August 9, 2011 at 1:55 am Great help, thank you! One question remains open: I was warned by my retailer that the i7 in the 11 inch 2011 MBA could cause heat problems and he recommended to buy the i5, is that true, any experiences? I preferably would go with the i7, but overheating is the reason for me to dump my actual MBA 2009, so I am hesitant Reply Tasman Hayes says: August 9, 2011 at 5:55 am Robert, Thanks for your question. The i7 probably has more capacity to drink your batteries life, as it can fly up to much higher clock rates (up to 2.9 GHz) than the i5 in the MBA 11 (up to 2.3 GHz)
