Apple OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 review
And since ML is only available through the App Store, it makes sense that all OS X upgrades come through there as well, downloading automatically for your installing pleasure. By default, your system is set up to only accept downloads directly from the App Store or identified developers -- a fact that leads to dialog boxes such as this one: This can all be adjusted by making your way into the Security and Privacy pane in System Preferences, where you can ratchet up the security (allow applications downloaded from Mac App Store) or pare it down (allow applications downloaded from anywhere)

Even the Menu bar and system fonts have been replaced to give Yosemite a cleaner, more elegant feel. When you compare the icons in the Dock in Mavericks (top) and Yosemite, you can see the flatter design. Similarly, you could be working on a chart in Numbers on your Mac, then switch to your iPad, pull up from the notification in the lower left of the screen, and continue working on the chart on your iPad.With Continuity, an incoming call on your iPhone will show up on your Mac where you can answer it on speakerphone
In Leopard, Automator has been updated to address its two greatest limitations: you can now set and read variables during a workflow, and you can set a workflow to loop. And Front Row, which replaces the Mac interface with a remote-control driven menu system for navigating iTunes content, has been updated to use essentially the same software as the Apple TV hardware device, meaning any Mac with an infrared sensor and Leopard can play back music and videos using the slick Apple TV interface

Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite review - Review - Macworld UK
Well, actually if you really dig deep you will find a few new things, such as Scrapbook and Snapshots options in Screen Saver, which allows you to choose from Apple's beautiful desktop images, or your own recent iPhoto events. It also includes an Edit button: click this and a second column appears beside Notification Centre slides out, showing a complete list of items you can add to the Today view

OS X Yosemite FAQ: What you need to know about Apple's new Mac update
While iCloud already helps us keep some information in sync between those devices, the process of switching back and forth between them is still often rough. But while developers have access to an early version of the new OS now, regular users will have to wait until the fall to use it (unless they sign up for, and get into, the public beta program)
The final way to create a new Desktop is by dragging and dropping an opened window from the Mission Control section to the top left or right corner until this Desktop icon appears. All full screen applications get their own Space.Another way to create a space is by hovering over the top left or right of the Mission Control screen until you see a Desktop with a plus button on the top of it
How to control and adjust System Preferences in Mac OS X Yosemite - How to - Macworld UK
You can adjust this so that they only show when scrolling regardless of the input device (akin to how scrolling works on iOS), or always show when content is too big for the viewport. The next two options set whether windows are grouped by application (turn that off and Mission Control will show separate windows and no app icon badges), and whether displays have separate spaces
Mac OS X Hints - A community-built collection of OS X hints
See Setting Up an iOS 7 On-Demand VPN for the details (it's way too much stuff to post via MacOSXHints, as much as I've been a fan of this site for many years). I find that the confirm-faces interface is a faster way to find new faces than the Find Faces feature and I was methodically going through each face album to find new faces this way before I discovered the smart album trick mentioned above
10.4: How to disable (and enable) Dashboard - Mac OS X Hints
Thoughts? Also, it seems that you could also disable Dashboard by simply turning off it's function key in system preferences, and removing the icon from the dock. I just compared info from Activity Monitor with dashboard enabled + disabled, both after fresh logins, and memory + cpu usage (+ other data) remains the same
