Would I have to open it up completely to re-align it or can I just open up the top area and snap it back closed and hope it works? it restarted my ipod and it keeps flashing the apple icon over and over for like 20 seconds at a time, nothing else happens unless i hold home and then lock for some time. The screen will shut off, and the device will disappear from iTunes Let go of the lock button, but keep holding down the home button for another 20-30 seconds (or until the iPod appears in iTunes again)

I deleted my facebook app and re-installed it to get an update, then while it was installing my ipod completely froze and went black for about 10 minutes
so i then proceeded to get out my 9 year old thinkpad running windows xp pro and iTunes 7.7.1, restored the iPod with the thinkpad, then the loop started again. It gave an error that I had to recover it using itunes, I recoverd my ipod and synced it again and after syncing I got another error that I had to restore it

Tried getting the iPod into DFU mode but can't since I have to first power off the device and since all I have is the white screen I can't access the slider to shut off the device.
