Would be nice if we could just have what ever size hard drive we wanted in a retail console, my 250gb is full now so i'm having to delete older games i have installed

The first thing you will want to do is create a bootable USB drive, for this I used a tool called Bootable USB Drive Creator Tool (recommended by hddhackr tool)
Files (like music or photos) run from the drive just as if they were on your internal hard drive and it is easy to copy or move files between the drive and an mp3 player or memory stick. Can you run an installed Xbox 360 game off of USB flash drives now? - Arqade
I haven't tried to run a game installed to the USB drive (since I accidentally installed it there), but given that it allows you to install a game to it, I don't see why it wouldn't allow you to do so
2011 As XBox Live brings on more services and the XBox dashboard undergoes more updates adding more functionality, the 20Gb drive of the original 360 Pro seems woefully inadequate (in fact, to be honest, 120Gb feels a bit restrictive these days). Memet on 17 April 2010 I recived my 250gig hd today and it came with transfer cable and disk preety stright forward to do.first of all unplug any thing from usb ports then insert your transfer disk in to your xbox360.then plug in the new 250gig hd via the transfer cable not on to xbox360.leave the old harddrive on xbox360.turn on xbox360 start the tranfer disk select what you want to transfer on to new 250gig hd

Getting the Most Out of your External Drive If you wish to restrict the amount of space used by the Xbox 360 to less than the default 32GB, you may set the desired amount in the Customize menu just underneath Configure Now. Microsoft has used several different kinds of drives in the console over the course of its lifespan, so you have to check what type of drive you have before you attempt to flash it. This video series will teach you everything you need to know to flash each of the major types of disc drives used in the XBox 360, and have you well on your way to having a sick custom modded system
It seems like Microsoft's intent with adding USB storage support was to replace the old Xbox 360 "memory card" with the option for using a USB flash drive, as they hint at in the FAQ section of this help page. The gotchas are: The Xbox 360 doesn't support USB 3.0 The Xbox 360 currently only allows for 32GB of useful storage per USB device (UPDATE: This is changing in 2015, and 2TB drives may be fully compatible in the future, see here for details) To put that 32GB limit into perspective, downloaded games can range from 500MB to upwards of 5GB, depending on the game
Are 1TB USB portable hard drives compatible with the XBOX 360? - Xbox Association - GameSpot
Will I then be able to watch films, TV series and listen to music through the XBOX 360? Is there a size limit on disk size which can be successfully read by the XBOX 360 or not? I already know only the FAT32 format can be read by the 360. The only trick is you have to format it into FAT 32, but most FAT 32 formatter's also limit the partition size to 32gb, so you have to do some digging to find one that has no limit
Can I Add a Hard Drive To The Xbox 360 4GB Model? - Microsoft Console - Neowin Forums
If for some reason you ever need to send the console in for service it would also invalidate any existing service contract if noted that a non-MS hare drive is inside. The question is: Can I add a hard drive to it? If so, which brand or kind? And is it something I can do myself without having to open the Xbox up? (is there a slot for it?) Thanks ahead for your help
Can I use external hard drive to store my game on my 4GB xbox 360 ? - Xbox Association - GameSpot
So, in a way Microsoft is still in control of your large storage options because the only way to have more than 16 GB on a single device is to use an official 360 HDD. I was trying to attached my external hard drive with front USB port ...will try to attache back side so atleast i could play song and see my pics over xbox..
